Seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin known for excessive production of oil associated with the presence of a fungus (Pityrisoirum ovale), which causes inflammation of the skin. This inflammation manifests itself in flaking and redness in some areas, such as eyebrows, corners of the nose, scalp and ears.
The cause of seborrheic dermatitis is not fully known. In adults, it is believed to be of genetic origin or caused by external agents such as allergies, fatigue, stress, alcohol, drugs, and excess oils. In newborns, seborrheic dermatitis is known as a milk crust, a harmless and temporary condition in which thick yellow peels appear on the scalp.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic problem that can be minimized with daily care.
